Now that it’s getting colder and desk temperatures are dropping with the season, regional stationery makers are pivoting straight into northern winter imagery. Sapporo-based retailer Home Shopping has partnered once again with Sailor Pen to release a revised edition of its boutique fountain pen: “Haru o Matsu Shima Enaga” (春を待つシマエナガ / The Shima Enaga Awaiting Spring), officially releasing on October 28, 2026.

The design draws directly from the shima enaga, the fluffy, snow-white sub-species of long-tailed bird native to Hokkaido, widely nicknamed Japan’s "fairy of the snow". Rather than settling for novelty mascot branding, the pen frames the bird through the quiet transition from sub-zero frost to early thaw.

The cap, barrel, and grip section are finished in "Lavender Ice," a soft, wintry white infused with subtle micro-shimmer that echoes powdery snow and the bird’s downy plumage. Providing contrast at both ends, the finial and tail cap are cast in an "Old Rose" pink to symbolize budding flora waiting under the drift.

At the center of the build is Sailor’s mid-sized 14-karat gold nib, laser-engraved with an exclusive motif of winter frost and a falling feather rather than Sailor’s standard anchor crest.
