Founded in Tokyo in 1919 by Shunichi Nakata, Platinum Pen Co., Ltd. (プラチナ万年筆株式会社) began as Nakaya Seisakusho, producing gold-nibbed pens named after the rarest of precious metals. Over the past century, the company has established a quiet reputation for mechanical dependability and deliberate nib design. They were early pioneers of the modern plastic ink cartridge and later developed their signature "Slip & Seal" cap, a spring-loaded inner mechanism that prevents nibs from drying out, even after months in a desk drawer.
