Japan’s stationery community is heading into December with a major milestone: Bungujoshi (文具女子博 / Stationery Girls’ Expo) is celebrating its 10th year. What began in December 2017 has grown into Japan’s premier consumer stationery shopping festival, drawing over 940,000 visitors cumulatively, including roughly 58,000 attendees across five days during Bungujoshi 2025 alone.

The festival brings together historic ink and paper manufacturers, boutique design studios, and regional stationery shops under one roof. Unlike standard trade fairs, attendees can handle pens, test paper weights, browse limited showroom inks, and purchase exclusive items on the spot.

For this milestone year, organizers have unveiled their official theme, a dedicated single-day anniversary celebration, early admission lottery details, and the upcoming release of the official event guide.

The 2026 Theme: "Beyond Passion! Colorful Stationery Celebration" (好きのその先へ!カラフル文具セレブレーション)

The 2026 visual identity features pastel hot-air balloons constructed from colored pencils, fountain pen nibs, compasses, and drafting tools drifting across festive skies.

According to the executive committee, the concept "Beyond Passion! Colorful Stationery Celebration" is designed to thank attendees for supporting the event over the past decade. The theme centers on deepening one's personal creative habits, guiding enthusiasts from simply collecting tools to discovering unexpected brands, artisanal techniques, and daily journaling rituals.

December 17: "Bungujoshi Day" 1-Day Special Celebration

While the primary exhibition spans December 16 to 20 at Pacifico Yokohama, Thursday, December 17 has been designated as "Bungujoshi Day" (文具女子博の日)—a dedicated one-day anniversary event featuring exclusive ticketing perks, commemorative merchandise, and unique in-venue stamp designs.

To mark the 10th anniversary, tickets for Thursday, December 17 are discounted to a flat ¥990 (tax included), compared to standard weekday (¥1,090–¥1,190) and weekend (¥1,290) pricing.

Every visitor will receive a collectible "10th Celebration ~ Bungujoshi Special Invitation Ticket" upon entry. Each pass features an individual serial number and rotates artwork daily, incorporating past visual themes and retro motifs.

1-Day-Only Commemorative Stamp Rally Designs

The five commemorative stamp rally checkpoints scattered across Exhibition Halls C and D will switch entirely to a single-day anniversary graphic on December 17, giving passport collectors an imprint distinct from the rest of the show.

10th Celebration Limited Exclusives & Attendee Perks

Across the entire five-day run, several limited-edition goods and entrance bonuses will be available:

Maruman Memo spiral notebook with a green and yellow cover and a white grid paper page.

Reissued 2017 Maruman Memo Pad (A7)

Bungujoshi is bringing back its first-ever official collaboration item: the Maruman Memo pad originally released at the inaugural 2017 show. Scaled to pocket A7 format with classic Maruman grid ruling, it features the vintage expo logo seal on the cover. Several participating booth brands are also planning heritage reprints and archival colorways.

The Pre-Event Essential: Bungujoshi 2026 Perfect Guide

Because booths at Bungujoshi frequently sell out of show-exclusive runs within hours, attendees rely heavily on the official preview magazine to map their purchases in advance. Published by Pia Corporation, the Bungujoshi 2026 Perfect Guide (文具女子博2026パーフェクトガイド) officially releases nationwide on November 16, 2026.

Along with vendor catalogs, creator interviews, and a ten-year retrospective on modern Japanese stationery trends, the A4 book includes a fill-in "Prep Map" (Yoshū MAP) allowing attendees to mark target stalls prior to arrival.
