Most traditional planners force you into an irritating analog tax: every time you want to cross-reference your monthly deadlines against what you actually need to get done this week, you’re stuck flipping back and forth between two different sections of the book.

Nagoya-based bookbinding manufacture Ito Techo, an 89-year-old specialty house founded in 1937, has spent years solving that exact problem under its house label Yumekirock.
Their latest release, the Hantsuki Planner (はんつき手帳), takes direct aim at planner bloat. Launched on Japanese crowdfunding platform Makuake on October 29, 2026, the concept proved so compelling that its fastest early-bird tier sold out completely in just five days.

Instead of treating the planner as a single vertical leaf, the notebook is split horizontally right across the middle. The upper half displays a broad two-page monthly calendar grid, while the lower half flips independently to reveal a 15-day timeline Gantt chart. Both halves can be viewed side by side with zero page flipping.
The Split-Deck Architecture: Monthly Grid Over 15-Day Gantt
The core friction with typical multi-view organizers is sheer physical bulk. Ito Techo has previously sold over 150,000 copies of its full-year Separate Diary, but accommodating 12 full months on both tiers easily leads to a heavy desk brick.
The Hantsuki Planner trims the fat by rethinking the lower deck around half-month increments:

The upper notebook tier remains dedicated to a clean, spacious Monthly Block View. Because the day blocks are uncluttered by granular task check-boxes, they function like a clean desk calendar for macro appointments, travel days, and firm deadlines.

The lower tier is cut into an independent Half-Month Gantt Chart running across a horizontal timeline. You can track granular project phases, assign multiple parallel task tracks, or mark specific hours of the day directly underneath the corresponding dates on the top month view. Because the pages are physically divided, flipping the bottom deck from Day 1–15 to Day 16–31 leaves the top monthly overview in place.
Ultralight Design: Thinner Than a Smartphone
Despite packing a full two-tier synchronized planning architecture, the notebook avoids the typical bulk of multi-section executive planners:
6 mm Profile & 156 g Core: At just 6 millimeters thick and weighing 156 grams for the interior book block, the planner weighs noticeably less than a standard iPhone and slips into day bags like a slim paperback notebook. With its durable protective cover attached, the entire assembly weighs roughly 231 grams.

Thread-Bound Lay-Flat Binding (Ito-Kagari): Bound in Ito Techo's Nagoya factory using traditional thread stitching, the split pages open 180 degrees flush against the desk without spring-back, sitting cleanly next to keyboards or in cramped cafe booths.

Integrated Front-Pocket Slipcover: The protective two-tone PVC cover features a diagonal front exterior sleeve engineered to hold an iPhone, loose tickets, or a companion ballpoint pen without stretching the spine.
